DraftKings Recklessly Promotes ‘Record’ $22M Online Slot Jackpot

DraftKings Casino announced “the largest online casino jackpot in U.S. history,” claiming that a Michigan gambler turned 20 cents into $22.4 million.

The promotion of the historic jackpot came with no explanation of the odds and no mention of any gambling addiction hotline number.

Notably, there was also no proof of the jackpot. No information about the player was revealed in DraftKings’ social media post. Some observers on social media said they were skeptical that the record jackpot even happened.

DraftKings’ social media account (X/Twitter) replied to one person who said they didn’t believe it was real: “Don’t be a Debbie Downer.”

‘Record’ DraftKings Jackpot Prize

According to DraftKings, the Michigander won $22.4 million on a 20-cent bet on the slot game Huff N’ Even More Puff.

The previous U.S. online casino jackpot record was set in February 2025, when a Michigan customer won $9.28 million. That’s according to DraftKings.

DraftKings Executive Vice President and General Manager of iGaming Christian Bogstrand said in a statement to WXYZ Detroit:

“Setting another record for the largest U.S. online casino jackpot is a major moment — and it speaks to the incredible experiences we’re creating for our customers. Topping $22 million is a milestone we’re proud of, and it reinforces our commitment to delivering a best-in-class gaming experience. Congrats to the winner!”

Michigan Online Casino Market Still Growing

DraftKings is among the dominant players in the Michigan online gambling market.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board reported on Nov. 18 that online casino gambling revenue in the state had reached a new all-time high. Online casino gross receipts for October totaled $278.5 million, which was a record for the Wolverine State.

The previous high was achieved in August 2025, when online casino gambling gross receipts were $263.3 million.

Michigan is one of seven states with government-sanctioned online casinos. Legal online casinos in the U.S. won $8.4 billion from users in 2024. The figure will grow significantly in 2025.
