The gambling site Sportzino is illegal and not a legit gaming platform, according to allegations from a regulator in the U.S.
Sports betting regulators in Tennessee announced in September 2025 that Sportzino had ceased offering its sports-related sweepstakes product in Tennessee. The Tennessee announcement followed New York’s June 2025 crackdown on Sportzino.
“Offering sports wagering in Tennessee is a taxable privilege, and we’re exploring every tool available in our effort to shut down illegal sportsbooks,” Tennessee Sports Wagering Council Executive Director Mary Beth Thomas said in a press release.
“Licensed sportsbooks offer critical consumer protections that unlicensed operators do not, and we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners in this effort,” Thomas added.
Betting addiction statistics show that regulated sportsbooks also cause harm.
If you’re thinking of using Sportzino in your state, let’s try to answer the question whether the casino/sportsbook is legit.
What’s at Stake for TN and Sportzino?
Sportzino’s exit from the state follows similar Tennessee shutdowns of the online sportsbooks Legendz and Bovada.
Tennessee has a lucrative sports gambling market. More than $5.6 billion is wagered annually through state-approved online gambling apps such as DraftKings and FanDuel.
As of September 2025, the state had issued $600,000 in fines to 12 illegal sportsbooks. It appeared that only three of the 12 had complied with the request to block Tennessee-based users.
Tennessee-approved sportsbooks pay taxes to the state, while alleged illegal operators do not.
For Sportzino, the loss of the Tennessee market adds to its growing business woes (more on that later). It appears that questions have been raised about whether Sportzino is a legit and safe product.
How Does Sportzino Work?
Sportzino is a so-called sweepstakes and “social” casino/sportsbook. Users, who can spend real money on the website, make sports “predictions” and play casino-style games.
The platform uses a dual-currency model. Users purchase so-called gold coins (GC) for play, while sweeps coins (SC) are used for games where players can earn prizes such as cash and gift cards.
Launched to the U.S. market in December 2023, Sportzino had a $10 million marketing budget, according to Blazesoft, the developer of the product.
“Sportzino.com has tremendous potential in the US market and beyond,” Blazesoft said in a press release. “With our starting estimated marketing budget of over $10 million for 2024, we are confident in our ability to establish Sportzino.com as a leading social gaming platform in North America.”
Blazesoft, based in Ontario, Canada, also owns gambling sites Fortune Coins and Zula Casino. Elsewhere in the U.S., those websites have faced legal scrutiny.
‘F’ Rating from Better Business Bureau
According to the Better Business Bureau, the entity SSPS LLC, which runs Sportzino’s U.S. promotions, has the worst rating.
Its “F” rating is due to Sportzino’s alleged “failure to respond to 16 complaints.”
Several users claimed Sportzino took advantage of their gambling addiction. They claimed that Sportzino is not legit.
“I am a compulsive gambler, self-excluded from multiple states, and they allowed me to deposit over $3,000 and lose it in a matter of 5 minutes with no checks in place,” one player wrote.
Sportzino replied: “The customer’s account was closed after they expressed concerns about their well-being related to their gameplay.”

Broader Crackdown on Sweeps Casinos and Sportsbooks
Sweepstakes gambling platforms have been the target of law enforcement, policymakers, and/or gambling regulators in numerous states.
New Jersey, Montana, and California passed laws in 2025 to ban the business model.
Meanwhile, there’s been some form of action against the sweepstakes casino industry in Tennessee, Maryland, Louisiana, Delaware, Connecticut, West Virginia, and Michigan.
Arguably, 2025 has been the toughest year to date for the sweepstakes casino model.
State officials and critics have alleged that sweepstakes gambling is illegal gambling. The sweepstakes model is allegedly a way to circumvent state gambling laws.
Thus, a casino and sportsbook like Sportzino might not be legit, according to authorities in the U.S.
Where is Sportzino Still Available and ‘Legit’ in the US?
The availability of Sportzino in the U.S. market was murky in late 2025.
As of September 2025, Sportzino’s website stated that it allowed users across the U.S., except for Georgia, Idaho, Michigan, and Washington.
The gambling site’s terms and conditions page had most recently been updated in March.
Tennessee, New York, New Jersey, Montana, and California were not mentioned as excluded.
Media reports also mentioned Nevada as another state where Sportzino might not work.
More states could join the excluded list as the crackdown against sweeps casinos continues.
Bottom Line: Is Sportzino Legit for Casino and Sports Betting?
According to government officials in the United States, Sportzino is not a legit platform for casino and sportsbook-style gambling.
The website has been accused of operating without required state licensure.
This, according to states such as New York and Tennessee, puts you at risk of harm when using Sportzino.
Furthermore, a Sportzino-affiliated entity has a failing rating from the Better Business Bureau.
