Thrillzz Sportsbook App Sued For Alleged ‘Despicable’ Conduct

Thrillzz Sportsbook is an illegal and illegitimate sweepstakes sports betting app, according to a lawsuit filed in September 2025 in California federal court.

Thrillzz, Inc., a Delaware corporation with a principal place of business in Tennessee, allegedly acted with “malice” through its “despicable” online sweepstakes gambling product in California.

The California lawsuit was filed six weeks after the Arizona Department of Gaming sent a cease-and-desist order to Thrillzz.

The class-action complaint alleged that Thrillzz offered illegal online gambling in violation of California law. It was also filed as California Gov. Gavin Newsom had legislation on his desk to clarify state law to ban sweepstakes gambling sites and apps.

According to Pitchbook.com, Thrillzz counts the Israeli firm Secret Chord as an investor.

The Thrillzz Sportsbook app lawsuit is similar to numerous cases against Stake, a leading sweepstakes gambling company.

Thrillzz Sportsbook Defrauds Bettors, Lawsuit Claims

The lawsuit, filed by attorneys at law firms in California, New York, Illinois, and Washington, D.C., accused Thrillzz of preying on its users. Former users didn’t know their online gambling was illegal, the suit claimed.

“Thrillzz knew (or should have known) that its gambling operations in California were illegal, but despite that induced Plaintiffs and the Class to gamble and lose money through its Gambling Websites while in California,” the lawsuit said.

Former platform users lost “significant sums of money,” the suit said.

The complaint accused the Thrillzz Sportsbook app of fraud.

“Thrillzz intentionally misrepresented and concealed the true nature of its unlawful gambling enterprise from Plaintiffs and the Class by affirmatively representing that the Gambling Websites and associated contests were permissible and legal in California.”

Almeida Law Adds Thrillzz to Lawsuit Portfolio

The law firm Almeida is behind the Thrillzz Sportsbook app complaint. It has also filed lawsuits against DraftKings, FanDuel, PrizePicks, and Underdog for allegedly violating California law.

In 2025, the Attorney General of California declared that daily fantasy sports contests were illegal sports gambling.

Almeida said on its website that it’s also looking into potentially suing gambling platforms Parlay Play, Sleeper, Boom Fantasy, Yahoo Daily Fantasy, Dabble, and Betr.

Also behind the Thrillzz class-action lawsuit are Tycko & Zavareei LLP, Cutter Law P.C., and Weitz & Luxenberg.
