The offshore gambling site BetWhale is illegal and not a legit gaming platform, according to regulators in the U.S.
Sports betting regulators in Tennessee announced in October 2025 that BetWhale had ceased offering its illegal sportsbook product. The state also said that Kickr and ReBet had left the market. The announcement followed the crackdown on Sportzino.
According to the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council:
BetWhale.ag, an illegal offshore sportsbook; Kickr, a social gaming platform offering “sports picks”; and ReBet, which offered social sportsbook sweepstakes, have all shut down these offerings after the SWC issued cease and desist letters, and in the case of BetWhale, a $50,000 fine.
Other US Regulators Target BetWhale
In March 2025, Michigan sent a cease-and-desist letter to BetWhale, also calling it an illegal and predatory gambling site.
BetWhale and other offshore betting sites “put consumers at risk by offering unreliable withdrawal options and lacking essential consumer protections,” stated MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams.
Minnesota later added BetWhale to its own list of illegal gambling websites. In November 2025, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said he had sent letters to 14 operators of illegal gambling websites, including BetWhale, directing them to stop offering online gambling in Minnesota.
“Online platforms offering sportsbooks and casino games run by out-of-state and overseas operators may make it look as though online gambling is legal and safe in Minnesota, but let me be clear: it is not,” Ellison said.
Bottom Line: Do not use BetWhale, as it’s not legit or legal.
How Does BetWhale Work?
According to authorities in the U.S., BetWhale operates as an illegal online casino and is not legit.
Some websites list BetWhale as based out of Curaçao, while others say Anjouan (Comoros).
The gambling site takes both crypto and fiat currency and targets U.S. players 18+. Nearly all states with legal online sports betting have set a legal minimum age of 21.
U.S. federal authorities are also looking to crack down on offshore gambling sites like BetWhale.
Bottom Line: Why BetWhale is Dangerous
Betting addiction statistics show that online sportsbooks cause harm.
BetWhale, which provides so-called “bonus offers” to encourage gambling, has potentially hurt some users by offering an unregulated product. All gambling platforms can cause harm to some players.
According to government officials inside the U.S., BetWhale is not a legit platform for casino or sportsbook-style gambling.
The website has been accused of operating without required state licensure.
Unregulated online gambling can put you at risk of fraud and addiction, regulators say. Always been on alert. One of the most egregious examples of alleged consumer fraud in online gambling came from Papaya Gaming.
